About the Rowing Section
We are a very enthusiastic group of club members who love getting out on the water – we try to meet twice weekly,  weather & tides permitting.  To keep up to date with our sessions and one-off  events, visit our Facebook page – TMSC Rowers . And if you want to get in touch phone Lisa Hocking on 07847 681447.

Fundraising
Although we love our half-gigs, our aim is to have at least one full-sized Cornish pilot gig so we can attend races all round the county & beyond.  We are hard at work fundraising £20,000 to buy one.  Keep in touch with our events through Facebook or the Diary page of this website and come along and support one of our events. And do visit our Facebook selling page which also raises money for our goal.

Background
TMSC officially launched its new Rowing Section at a well-supported club Open Day event in July 2015. A keen group of rowers have emerged with a steering group setting about the various organisational tasks required in getting this new activity up and running.

The club had been offered two half-gigs earlier in 2015 and the Management Committee were keen to accept this as an addition to the range of water-sports at the club. Members have spent the last couple of months getting them ready for use.

Interest has come both from existing club members and from the local community with new members coming forward to join in. All abilities are welcome to come along and try out this sport; in due course the club should be able to run separate teams from youths through to veterans.

We have established contacts with other local gig-rowing clubs and with national governing bodies for initial advice and look forward to the possibility of becoming an affiliated rowing club participating in local events.

Of course it remains “early days” for the rowing section and will depend on continuing support from members. It is great time to become involved and volunteer to help out with one of the many tasks to keep the boats moving on the water.
