30.09.2017 Incorporation Newsflash

Great News for TMSC members!

It is with pleasure that your management committee can announce that Torpoint Mosquito Sailing Club is now incorporated and formally commences trade on the 1st October 2017.

Following the Special General Meeting  on 12th June and a lot of work by the management committee and the trustees this brings to an end some two years of investigation and deliberation on the best way to organise the club to safeguard members and provide a platform for the future.

Without all of our volunteers, our club and its full programme of events would not exist in the form we know it. TMSC would not want to see any of those volunteers unnecessarily running financial risks because of their involvement in club activities, and so to operate through a company limited by guarantee makes perfect sense.

Our club is in good health and your committee continues to plan carefully for the future.

There is still some legal paperwork to get through to transfer assets from the trustees to the incorporated company but our various volunteers are now protected from financial risk.

To provide members with full information, we have posted three important documents on the club Projects Page:

  1. The Incorporation Summary, this highlights the main changes arising from incorporation
  2. The Management Document, this provides information on the company and club organisation and includes the Club Constitution which remains unchanged and the core document for operations as agreed by members
  3. The First Board Meeting minutes following incorporation where trustees have delegated their powers to the management committee

All of this provides a seamless continuation of business.

If members have any questions they are encouraged to speak to one of the committee members.

02.04.2017 TMSC cadets sailing with The Island Trust

image image image image image image image image image

TMSC cadets were very lucky to take part in a day’s sailing with The Island Trust.

We sent 12 cadets – all but 1 was aged 13-19 out today Sunday 2nd April 2017.

Weather was fantastic, and we sailed on 2 different boats, Tectona and Pegasus.

7 cadets have now  signed up for a 2 day voyage this coming week. How wonderful is that!

The cadets had a fantastic time out in the sound, heading over to Cawsand Bay.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and I saw some great teamwork.

I hope we might be able to send some more younger cadets as it was a day to remember.

kind regards,

Phillippa

Cadet Coordinator
